David stands as a young lad prepared to meet the giant Goliath, armed with a sling in his left hand and draped over his left shoulder the strands leading to the stone filled pouch in his right hand. The gallery discourages photographing this masterpiece but without a flash I took this picture on October 27th, 2009. It was carved by Michelangelo in 1501 and completed in 1504 and stands 17 feet tall. He believed the image of David already existed within the stone he was carving just as our soul exists within our own body but is yet to be revealed by our actions.

Another artist anticipated our visit and carved Claudius draping her arm around Maximus in such a caring way. His rendition must have been seen in a vision of the hereafter when not a hair of Maximus' head would be lost.

We departed Florence about 11:30 and drove to Pisa then on to Genoa. Enjoyed a great dinner in a fine Italian restaurant named Le Rune, located down one small alley and up another on the left. You can't miss it. Sure enough. Without this little Garmin nuvi we would be toast.

Genoa is a great Mediterranean city of 600,000 plus those surrounding. Tourism is big as seen by the cruise boats in the harbor. See the next posts.
